Daily water intake calculator
Estimate a practical hydration range based on your weight and today's conditions.
How to use your estimate
Drink regularly throughout the day and adjust for thirst, urine color, climate, exercise, and medical guidance.
This calculator estimates total daily water from beverages and food. It is not appropriate when a clinician has prescribed a fluid restriction or a specific hydration plan.
Frequently asked questions
Does the result include water from food and other beverages?
The calculator estimates a practical range of fluids to drink. Other beverages and food also provide water, but the tool does not attempt to measure or subtract them, so you do not need to force yourself to reach the upper limit.
Do I always need to reach the top of the range?
No. The range is a flexible reference, not a rigid target. Thirst, food, climate, activity, and medical guidance can change what is appropriate for each person.
How does exercise change the estimate?
The calculator increases the range according to exercise duration and perceived sweating. This is approximate; measuring your sweat rate provides a more individualized reference.
What if I exercise in the heat?
Heat and sweating can reflect the same fluid loss. To avoid counting it twice, the calculator only extends the upper end of the exercise adjustment.
What if I have a medical fluid restriction?
General guidance could conflict with your medical plan. The calculator does not provide a target if you report a fluid restriction or kidney or heart disease.
Can I drink all the remaining water at the end of the day?
Do not try to make up a large remaining amount quickly. Spread fluids throughout the day and follow any individual medical guidance.
How many glasses or bottles are in one liter?
One liter equals four 250 ml glasses, two 500 ml bottles, or about 1.3 750 ml bottles.
