Fuel consumption calculator

Calculate your vehicle's fuel economy or estimate how many liters you need for a trip.

Fuel consumption calculator

Publicidad

Quick conversion

The same fuel economy can be read as distance per liter, liters per 100 km or miles per US gallon.

km/L

Shows how many kilometers the vehicle travels per liter.

L/100 km

Shows how many liters it uses to travel 100 km.

mpg US

Uses miles per US gallon, not imperial gallons.

How to measure it

Fill the tank, record the odometer, drive normally, refill the tank and divide distance traveled by liters added.

Use the same pump or filling method when possible. Actual results can vary between city and highway driving, vehicle load and driving style.

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate fuel consumption?

Divide distance traveled by fuel used. If you traveled 500 km and used 40 L, fuel economy is 12.5 km/L.

What does km/L mean?

Kilometers per liter indicates how many kilometers the vehicle can travel on one liter of fuel.

What does L/100 km mean?

Liters per 100 kilometers indicates how much fuel the vehicle uses to travel 100 km. In this format, a lower number means lower consumption.

How do you convert km/L to mpg?

Multiply km/L by 2.352145833 to obtain miles per US gallon.

How do you know how many liters you need for a trip?

Convert fuel economy to km/L and divide total distance by that value. The calculator can also include a round trip and a simple margin.

How do you calculate fuel for a round trip?

Use Liters for trip mode and choose Round trip. The calculator doubles the distance before estimating liters.

Should I add a safety margin?

It can provide planning headroom. A 10% or 15% margin adds only a simple reserve; it does not model traffic, weather or driving style.

Does the calculator use US or imperial gallons?

It uses US gallons, labeled gal US. It does not use imperial gallons.
